The character certificate or police clearance certificate issued by the police officer after verification is necessary at times in any government, private department, public service centre, job or work in companies or even at the time of admission in school and college. For the passport, the department sends the file to the SP office. From there, the candidate goes to the concerned police station. For these verification checks, a policeman from the police station himself checks the address, during which the applicant’s name, age, address and other information get authenticated. After this, a report from the local police station, the district-specific branch is sent to the office of the Superintendent of Police, and the police verification gets issued for the passport. Until now, the police verified and sent their report in 21 days for a simple and instant passport, which is now 15 days.
Koriya Superintendent of Police Santosh Kumar Singh has taken an initiative to increase the convenience of the people in the district, in which police verification using information technology tools like WhatsApp message/video call etc. According to the available information of the Superintendent of Police’s office, a total of 124 passport verifications have been done in the last three months, out of which 10 in 04 days, 59 in 02-03 days and 55 people in just one day. The same situation is with the character certificate/police clearance issued by the police. Police Captain Santosh Singh told us that this process will continue.
