JCC-J gheraoes SECL headquarters in Bilaspurdemanding adequate coal supply to captive power plants of Chhattisgarh

Bilaspur:Janta Congress Chhattisgarh-J (JCC-J) workers, led by party’s MLA from Lormi Assembly Constituency Dharamjeet Singh, gheraoed the headquarters of South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL) in Bilaspur on Wednesday, demanding adequate coal supply to Chhattisgarh industries. Also present on the occasion were JCC-J leader advocate Vishwambhar Gulhare and party’s city president Prashant Tripathi

JCC-J submitted a memorandum to the Chief General Manager of SECL demanding adequate coal supply to the Captive Power Plant (CPP) in Chhattisgarh and resumption of supply with immediate effect apart from demand to renew the Fuel Sale Agreement (FSL) and ban on outsourcing as well as compensation for the families affected by elephant menace.

MLA Singh said on the occasion that the Union Coal Minister had visited Chhattisgarh recently and assured of restoring adequate supply of coal to all the thermal power plants, but it being complaints that the captive power plants in the state are not receiving adequate coals from August this year. It is unfortunate that the state industries are unable to get their genuine share of coal, said MLA Singh. It is the duty of the state government to ensure that the industries of Chhattisgarh get coal, so that thousands of employees engaged in the work at various plants are able to earn both

The MLA said that 32 million tonne coal is required annually for the operation of more than 250 captive power plants in the state. The quantity required is just 19 per cent of the total production of coal by the SECL. 

The MLA said that the local youths should be given employment instead of outsourcing and talented sportspersons of Chhattisgarh are being sidelines in the jobs in the SECL. The MLA warned of an agitation of the demands are not fulfilled.
