Haryana boys, Karnataka girls emerge overall champions in Sub-jr National Fencing Championship

Raipur:Haryana boys and Karnataka girls emerged as overall champions in their respective categories of the 23rdNational Sub-junior Fencing Championship 2022, organised in Raipur from March 26 to 28 by Chhattisgarh Pradesh Fencing Association under the aegis of Fencing Association of India (FAI), Chhattisgarh Sports and Youth Welfare Department.

Manipur emerged as champion in Foil (boys) event followed by Maharashtra secured the second position, and Tamil Nadu and Haryana shared the third position. In Girls’ category, Haryana stood first followed by Manipur second, and Punjab and Maharashtra shared the third position.

In Sabre (boys) event, Tamil Nadu emerged as champion followed by Delhi runner up, and Punjab and Haryana jointly secured the third position. Similarly, Delhi emerged as champion in girls Sabre event followed by  Haryana second and Punjab and Manipur shared the third position. 

In Girls (Epee) event, Karnataka became champion followed by Maharashtra runner up, and Tamil Nadu and Haryana shared the third position. Similarly, Haryana emerged as champion in Boys’ category of the event followed by Manipur runner up, and Maharashtra and Jammu & Kashmir shared the third position. 

In this way, the overall top five boys’ teams of the championship are Haryana, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Punjab and Delhi. Similarly, top five girls team of the championship are Karnataka, Manipur, Haryana, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.

The closing ceremony was graced by Chhattisgarh Minorities Commission Chairman Mahendra Singh Chhabra as chief guest while CGOA general secretary Gurucharan Singh Hora presided over. Special guests were Chhattisgarh Housing Board member VinodTiwari,  FAI treasurer Bashir Ahmed Khan, state association senior vice president Ajit Patel, Genesis School Noida chairman Sanam Deep Kaur Chadda, FAI senior vice president Dawood Khan, Odishafencing association general secretary Devendra Sahu, Chhattisgarh Throwball Association general secretary Raman Sahni, Congress Committee member TarunMajhi,  Chhattisgarh Judo Sangh general secretary Arun Dwivedi, Andhra Pradesh Fencing Association president N Nageswara Rao, CG Taekwondo Association general secretary Rampuri Goswami, Gujarat Fencing Association general secretary Bharat Singh Thakur and Delhi Fencing Association general secretary Harpreet Singh. The program was conducted by Akhilesh Dubey.


Meanwhile, Mayor Aijaz Dhebar announced to give Rs 15 for the auditorium of Raipur District Fencing Association. He also announced to provide facility for fencers at Netaji Subhash Stadium.
