Guru Ghasidas University will be transformed into ‘Best University’ in the country

Raipur: Guru Ghasidas
Central University, Bilaspur Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Chakrawal aims to
establish the University as one of the best and most renowned universities in the
country. All efforts will be made in this regard so that the university can
stand in the category of the best institution.

Chakrawal on Saturday
spoke to media persons about the upcoming plans and the work being done in his
6-month tenure as the Vice-Chancellor. He believes that the university has no
separate existence; it is part of society and is for society. He aims
to live up to the expectations of society as far as possible.

Chakrawal told that he
took charge as the vice-chancellor on July 24 and since then he has been
working in the direction of how we can take this university forward by taking a
constructive and positive approach. He said that it is very difficult to build
an institution and it has been 12 years since this university became a central
university, so everyone should cooperate in the development of the university.

Replying to a question on
the faculty in the university, Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chakrawal said that about
435 posts have been sanctioned, out of which about 125 will be vacant.
Temporary teachers have been hired for this. Similarly, 51 assistant professors
have been promoted and the process of promotion of associate professor and
professor is going on.

Vice-Chancellor Prof.
Alok Kumar Chakrawal and Registrar Prof. Shailendra Kumar said that under the
Department of Management Studies of Guru Ghasidas Central University, a
four-year undergraduate-level course in Hotel Management is going to start from
March this session, after a long gap of about 10 years, a new course is going
to start in the university.

Besides, the vice-chancellor informed that a proposal for a state-of-the-art facility for sports
at a cost of Rs 715 crore has been sent to the Ministry of Higher Education and
UGC, Government of India. This project will play a role in taking Chhattisgarh
forward in the field of research and sports. Discussions are being held with
reputed consultants and startups and Corporate Social Responsibility experts of
the country and abroad with activeness for early realization of these projects.
