It is noteworthy that
after GST was imposed, several issues surfaced in the new tax system.
Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax 2017 includes a provision under which
taxpayers have to get their accounts audited (by CA/audit expert), as a result
the taxpayers (especially the small and the medium enterprises) have to bear
the additional compliance expenses. Besides, there have been certain
ambiguities in various provisions of this Act. Input Tax Credit provisions
needs be made stricter.

Hence, decision
regarding amendment in the Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Act 2017 was taken
to reduce the compliance expenses and to remove the ambiguities in the
provisions of the Act. In view of the decision taken by GST Council, Central
Goods and Services Tax (Amendment) Act 2021 has been in force from March 28,
2021. Therefore, amendment on the same lines is also required to be made in
Chhattisgarh Goods and Services Tax Act 2017. This is why Chhattisgarh Goods
and Services Tax Act (Amendment) Bill was passed on December 15, 2021.
