Bhupesh Baghel has said that flagship schemes of the state government schemes
including Godhan Nyay Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, and Suraji Gaon
Yojana have proven to be beneficial in bringing prosperity to the lives of
farmers.

A new dimension is
being given to Godhan Nyay Yojana, which is now being operated as a ‘mission’
in the state. Under this scheme, various income-generating activities conducted
in Gauthans including the purchase of cow dung and the manufacturing of vermicompost
have financially empowered women belonging to Self-Help Groups. The Gauthans
built at the village level across the state will be further strengthened in the
coming time.

Chief Minister Baghel
was addressing a programme organized at his residence office today to transfer
funds to beneficiaries under Godhan Nyay Yojana. On the occasion, he virtually
released an amount of Rs 10 crore 24 lakh to cattle rearers, Gauthan
committees, and women Self-Help Groups associated with state-run Gauthan. This
includes payment of Rs 5 crore 62 lakh in lieu of purchase of cow dung in the
last fortnight and Rs 1.88 crore and Rs 2.75 crore to Gauthan committees and
women SHGs respectively as a dividend. So far, Rs 127 crore 79 lakh has been
paid to cow dung vendors in lieu of purchase of cow dung. Similarly, a total of
Rs 79 crore 39 lakh has been paid to Self-Help Groups and Gauthan committees
since the commencement of this scheme.

In the program, MoU was
inked between Director Horticulture and Farm Forestry and Shri Ganesh Global
Private Limited to prepare organic Gulal and pooja items through women
self-help groups in Gauthans. Under this MoU, organic gulal and pooja materials
will be manufactured in as many as10 Gauthans of Durg and Raipur districts in
the first phase. Over 150 women self-help groups of both districts have been
linked for this. In addition to manufacturing organic gulal, the women
Self-Help Groups will prepare materials like sandalwood powder, cotton wicks, ‘kumkum’,
‘roli’, and ‘havan’.

On this occasion, Chief
Minister Baghel launched ‘Arth’—an integrated brand name for various types of
organic products manufactured by women self-help groups in Gauthans of the
state. With this, gift hampers prepared by women self-help groups will be made
available for sale in the market under the brand name ‘Arth’. The chief
minister also released the brand logo on this occasion. Chief Minister said
that marketing of all these products would be done through the website www.arthcg.com.
Women SHGs in Gauthans are manufacturing variety of products including
immunity-tea, essential oil, soap, organic gulal, and pooja materials using
natural ingredients. The work of manufacturing organic gulal and pooja
materials has been started already as pilot project in Rajnandgaon district.
For this, an MoU has been signed between Sakhi Group Organization Somani and  Shri Ganesh Global Pvt Ltd. Women of
Rajnandgaon are reaping good benefits of this initiative. Now, the state
government has further decided to expand this initiative in Gauthans of Raipur
and Durg districts.
 

“Along with the
manufacture of vermi-compost and super compost, works like power generation,
manufacturing of eco-friendly natural paint, and establishment of pulse and oil
extraction mills are being done in Gauthans. So far, the work of setting up 18
oil extraction mills and 53 pulse mills has been done in Gauthan. Work of
establishing 152 oil extraction mills and 173 pulse mills in Gauthans is
underway. The state has created a new record in paddy procurement with the
purchase of 97.98 lakh metric tonnes of paddy. Rs 19 thousand 36 crore has been
paid to the farmer brothers. The state is creating a new record in paddy
procurement every year for the last three years. There has been an increase in
paddy area and the number of farmers selling paddy in the state”, said Chief Minister
Bhupesh Baghel.

Baghel said adding that
the positive changes bought in the lives of the farmers of Chhattisgarh through
Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana, Godhan Nyay Yojana and Suraji Gaon Yojana is
being discussed in the whole country today. “I have visited many states
including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand in the last few days. I also
feel very proud when the development of farmers of Chhattisgarh is discussed in
other states”, he said.
 

Agriculture Minister Ravindra
Choubey said in his address that we have succeeded in solving the problem of
shortage of chemical fertilizers by starting production of vermicompost and
super compost using cow dung purchased under Godhan Nyay Yojana. Cow dung worth
about Rs 127 crore has been purchased so far. Out of which vermicompost and
super compost worth about Rs 91 crore has been sold. The women Self-Help Groups
have generated an income of about Rs 51.36 crore from other economic
activities. Apart from this, a total of Rs 79.39 crore has been paid to
Self-Help Groups and Gauthan Committees. The system of Gauthans will be further
strengthened in the coming times.
 

He said adding that
efforts would be made to maintain the availability of Vermi Compost and Super
Compost for the farmers in the coming Kharif season as well. He also urged all
the ministers to visit Gauthans during their visit to various districts and
inspect the activities conducted there besides giving suggestions to the
officers for any further scope of improvement.
 

Agriculture Production
Commissioner Dr. Kamal Preet Singh spoke about the various activities conducted
under Godhan Nyay Yojana. He informed that 97 thousand 529 landless are getting
benefited through this scheme. He informed that out of the approved 10 thousand
591 Gauthans, 7933 Gauthans have already been constructed and 2300 Gauthans are
under construction. Besides, 2549 Gauthans have become self-sufficient. He said
that in the months of January and February, farmers have donated more than 15
lakh 67 thousand quintals of paddy stubble in Gauthans costing about Rs 31.35
crore.

Speaking about the MoU
signed today for the production of organic gulal and pooja materials in
Gauthans, Godhan Nyay Yojana State Nodal Officer Dr. S. Bharathi Dasan informed
that this scheme is being expanded in 5 Gauthans each of Raipur and Durg
districts, where members of 75-75 women self-help groups will prepare organic
gulal and pooja materials. He said that in the next year, about 100 metric
tonnes of organic gulal would be prepared worth about Rs 1.50 to Rs 2 crore.
Similarly, 100 metric tonnes of pooja materials worth Rs 2 to 3 crore will be
prepared in these Gauthans. Apart from daily remuneration, 5 per cent of the
income earned from selling these products will be given as a dividend to women.
