Korba:With fuel price swelling, Korba district of Chhattisgarh is witnessing a unique kind of gang war nowadays. According to information, the battle for supremacy erupted between the diesel thieves has started in the district. In such an incident occurred on November 28 night, unidentified miscreants opened fire on a youth at SECL Kusmunda mine railway siding. The bullet hit the young man’s thigh. The injured youth, who was admitted to the district hospital for treatment, said that he works for a gang of diesel thieves. Local gang members fired on him and fled. At the same time, the police term it a quarrel due to mutual enmity.

According to the information, 21-year-old SumitKumar Chaudhary, a resident of Tifra of Bilaspur, had come to one his acquaintance in the Old Township of Korba district on November 28. From there at around 10 pm he left with the car. Meanwhile, some people riding in black Scorpio were seen standing near the railway siding in Kusmunda area. Among them were Raja Khan, Ashraf Khan and AbhishekAnand, a resident of Korba, and three others. They started threatening Sumit. When the dispute escalated, they shot Sumit.

The bullet had hit Sumit’s thigh and he fell there. Hearing the sound of firing, someone informed the police. Sumit said that the accused were already standing near the mine. He recognized them and went to them. After a while, a white Bolero was coming from the mine side with diesel. Sumit said that AshrafKhan asked him the reason for coming here, then Raja told Ashraf to kill Sumit or else he would tell everyone. On hearing this, when Sumit started running away, he was shot from behind. 

Sumit used to work for Sajid Khan

Sumit said that he used to work for Sajid Khan of BilaspurSajid gets Diesel stolen. Earlier they used to steal diesel from the Kusmundamine of SECL, a subsidiary of Coal India, but now they have stopped. Sumit said he was in Korba for 4-5 days., Darri CSP Litesh Singh said that it is a matter of mutual enmity and police were investigating further.

The police have sought opinion from the doctors of the Medical College Hospital on the nature of the injury caused to Sumit
