CoBRA jawan injured in Naxal encounter

A jawan of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) was injured in an encounter with Naxals in Pegdapalli forests under Basaguda police station limits on Tuesday morning. The injured trooper identified as Head Constable Sanjeev Kumar who was admitted in field hospital, Basaguda.

As a part of anti-Naxal operation, a joint team of 210th battalion CoBRA, Special Task Force and District Reserve Guard from Pegdapalli camp was out for searching towards Kottaguda forests. While crossing Pegdapalli and Kottaguda forests, the security personnel came under heavy firing of Naxals. Security personnel took their positions and retaliated in self-defense. Naxals could not sustain longer and vanished inside deep forests. One CoBRA personnel was injured in encounter.

Bastar Range Inspector General of Police Sundarraj P said that Head Constable Sanjeev Kumar sustained bullet injuries in legs and has been admitted in hospital. He is being treated for injuries and his condition is normal, added the IG. Explosives, Naxal literature and daily use materials were recovered from spot.
