Raipur. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel will receive the award given to Chhattisgarh in the category of cleanest states of India from President Ram Nath Kovind at the Swachh Amrit Mahotsav organized at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi on November 20.

 

Chhattisgarh has given the best performance while maintaining its status as the cleanest state of the country. Chhattisgarh will not only be rewarded as a state, but 61 urban bodies will also receive awards for their excellent performance. Chhattisgarh will be the state whose highest number of bodies are being rewarded. Chhattisgarh has also been a leading state in the years 2019 and 2020 in terms of cleanliness.

Every year the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs organizes Swachh Sarvekshan in all the cities and states of the country. In Swachh Sarvekshan, urban cleanliness is assessed under various parameters, mainly through door-to-door garbage collection, scientific disposal of waste, open defecation free city, garbage-free city etc. Citizens’ feedback is included in this. The ranking of states and cities, the best performing states and cities are rewarded.

 

Chhattisgarh is the only state in the country where, according to the principles of Narva, Garuwa, Ghurva and Bari, more than 9000 cleaners collect 1600 tonnes of wet and dry garbage from house to house and scientifically dispose of it. Apart from this, the Government of India has declared Chhattisgarh as the first ODF plus state of the country.
