Chief minister takes strict stance against the prescription of branded medicines in government hospitals, instead of generic

Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel chaired the review meeting of the Urban Administration and Development Department and Environment and Housing Department, today at his residence office. While reviewing the Shri Dhanvantari Generic Medical Store Scheme at the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed strong displeasure against the prescribing of branded medicines, instead of generic medicines, in government hospitals. He said that the government doctors found prescribing branded medicines would be subjected to strict action. Following the instructions of the Chief Minister, Principal Secretary Health has immediately issued instructions to all the District Collectors and CMHOs to ensure that the doctors of government hospitals prescribe only the generic medicines.

Chief Minister had received the information that despite frequent warnings, the doctors in certain government hospitals have been prescribing branded medicines to the patients, instead of the generic ones. It is noteworthy that Chhattisgarh Government has launched Shri Dhanvantari Generic Medical Stores Scheme to ensure the availability of low-cost medicines to common people. It was informed in the meeting that as many as 159 stores are being operated in the state under this scheme. About 17 lakh 92 thousand citizens have saved a total of Rs 17 crore 38 lakh due to the medicines sold through these medical stores so far.

It was informed in the meeting that the online building permit system has been implemented for construction on residential plots up to 500 square meters in 9 municipal corporations of the state, through which 3771 building permits have been issued so far. In the meeting, Baghel directed the officials concerned to ensure online availability of maximum of the services provided by urban bodies to the citizens under Public Service Guarantee Act. The Chief Minister has also given instructions to authorize Municipal Corporations for approving the layouts. Till now, the Town and Country Planning Department had the authority to pass the layouts, but now Municipal Corporations have been authorized for this work. Chief Minister has also directed to free-hold the properties of urban bodies, which were earlier provided on lease. Lakhs of citizens will be benefited by this decision.

According to the decision taken by the Chief Minister in the meeting today, the Chief Municipal Officer of the urban body will be declared as gazetted officer. This decision was taken in response to the demand of Urban Administration Minister Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahariya. 

In the meeting, CEO of Raipur Development Authority informed that Raipur Development Authority has completed the construction of 2544 houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. Likewise, the construction of 2416 EWS and LIG plates has been completed in Indraprastha Yojna Phase-II. 128 EWS plates have been made under Kamal Vihar Yojna Sector-4 and construction of the approach road for the above plates will be completed by April 30, 2022.

Commissioner of Chhattisgarh Housing Board informed that the board has started the facilities of online registration, payment and allotment process to simplify the procedures. Installments of buildings, maintenance fee, water tax are being received through POS machines instead of MR books. Presently, properties are being sold through an online website/app, under 44 projects of the Board. A total of 796 properties worth Rs 227.40 crore have been sold so far through online mode.
