“Chhattisgarh is the second state after Bihar to declare public holiday on the occasion
of Chhath festival. The state government has taken this decision respecting the
sentiments and beliefs of people”, said chief minister Bhupesh Baghel addressing
a Chhath Puja programme organized in Bhilai Sector-2 today.

announced to give Rs 1 crore for the beautification and development of Chhath
Talab here. He said that the Chhath festival is a festival of gaiety. People of the Bhojpuri community around the world gather on the banks of the lake to express
their faith in the Sun God, a source of renewable energy.

“Chhath
festival is a symbol of energy. We celebrate the festival with the desire to be
energetic. I feel joyous to be among you all on this auspicious occasion”, he added.

MLA
Devendra Yadav said that the chief minister has given a public holiday on the
occasion of Chhath Puja and we are all very happy with it. Our joy of
celebrating the festival has increased a lot. This step of the government is
definitely very good for the encouragement of the society.
