Chhattisgarh holds top rank in the country for maximum minor forest produce collection

of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and under the guidance of Forest Minister Mohammad
Akbar, the minor forest produce collection work is being conducted continuously
According to the data
released by ‘The Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India
(TRIFED)’, nearly 2.77 lakh quintals of minor forest produce worth Rs 80.12
crore have been procured at the minimum support price in the first quarter of
the current financial year i.e. from April to July.
In Chhattisgarh, nearly 2.77 lakh of minor
forest produce worth Rs 80.12 crore have been procured in the span of three
months from April to July. This includes collection of 1.13 lakh quintals of
tamarind (including seeds) worth Rs 40.90 crore and 1.37 lakh quintals of Sal
seed worth Rs 27.59 crore, 6,595 quintal flower tamarind worth Rs. 4.15 crore,
2, 390 quintal chironji kernels worth Rs. 2 .92 crore and 10, 493 quintal
Bahera worth Rs 1.78 crore.
Meanwhile, Mahul Patta,
Nagarmotha, Bhelwa, Bahera Kacharia, Dhavai Phool (Dry), Harra Kacharia, Puwad
(Charota), Bel Gud, Satwar (Dry), Kusum seed, Broom, Rangini Lac, Van Tulsi,
Flower Tamarind, Jamun Seeds (dry), cumin, Tamarind seed, Amla seedless, Kusumi
lac, Kullu Gond, Mahua seed, Karanj seed have also been collected. Besides, the
collection of Patal Kumhra (Bedari Kand), Tikhur, Sawai grass, Koriya bark,
Chhind grass, Amla (raw), kanta jhadu, Kutz bark, Adusa leaf, Indrajou seed,
Safed musli, Palash flower etc. have also been collected.
State Minor Forest
Produce Association Managing Director Sanjay Shukla informed that at present 52
minor forest produce are being procured in the state at minimum support price.
These 52 minor forest produce include Sal seed, Harra, Tamarind seed, Chironji
kernels, Mahua seed, Kusumi lac, Rangini lac, Kal Megh, Bahera, Nagarmotha,
Kullu Gum, Puwad, Bel Gud, Honey and broom, Mahua flower (dry), Jamun Beej
(dry), Kaunch Beej, Dhavai Phool (dry), Karanj Beej and Amla (with seeds) and
flower tamarind (seedless), Giloy and Bhelwa, Van Tulsi Beej, Forest Cumin
Seed, Tamarind Seed, Bahera Kacharias, Harra Kacharias and Neem Seeds, Kusumi
seed, Reetha fruit (dry), Shikakai phalli (dry), Satavar root (dry), cashew
kernels, malkangani seed and mahul leaf.
(flowers), Safed Musli (dry), Indrajou, Patal Kumhra, and Kutaj (bark),
Ashwagandha, Amla raw, Sawai grass, Kanta Jhadu, Tikhur, Behan lac-Kusmi, Behan
lac-rangini, Bel (raw ), and berries (raw). Apart from the support price, State
Government is also providing additional bonus for the procurement of Kusumi
Lac, Rangini Lac and Kullu gum.
