Raipur: Chhattisgarh chief
minister Bhupesh Baghel has suggested to include elements of cultural
upliftment in the prevailing parameters to check development of aspirational
districts of Chhattisgarh.
In a letter to Prime Minister
Narendra Modi, Baghel has suggested that education in local dialect, reduction
in malaria and anemia, procurement of minor forest produce at support price,
conservation-promotion of folk art, folk dance and archeology, organic farming,
forest rights lease should be included in monitoring indicators of
Transformation of Aspirational District Programme (TADP).

Meanwhile, the chief minister
noted in his letter that there are a total of 10 aspirational districts in our
state, out of which 8 districts are completely in Scheduled Area and 07
districts are under tribal dominated Bastar division affected by Left Wing
Extremism. Grading is done among the aspirational districts on the basis of
various parameters by NITI Aayog from time to time to review and evaluate the
development of these aspirational districts.
Pointing out that
culture and traditions have a special contribution in our forest and rural life
which brings a sense of harmony, enthusiasm and self-reliance in the lives of
the locals, Baghel suggested that the elements of cultural upliftment should
also be given due importance and attention in the concept of aspirational

of aforementioned indicators, I am sure that the efforts being made for the
holistic development of the aspirational districts will also be taken care of
and the hope with which this separate monitoring system of the aspirational districts
has been started will also be successful”, said Baghel in his letter.
