Raipur: All India
Congress Committee (AICC) President Sonia Gandhi has appointed Chhattisgarh
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel as senior AICC observer for the Assembly election
of Uttar Pradesh.
AICC General Secretary
K C Venugopal has issued an order to this effect on Saturday. Political critics
see this decision of the Congress high command in many ways. Many see this
development as possibilities of changing the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh are
now over till the UP elections.
Meanwhile, another big
news coming that the Congress may soon appoint four general secretaries in the
All India Congress Committee.
The appointment of Baghel
as senior AICC observer for UP poll is being seen as a setback for the supporters
of T S Singhdeo who were hoping that Singhdeo could be made the Chief Minister
soon for two and a half years.
The way Baghel’s
supporter Rajesh Tiwari was first made AICC secretary and then Priyanka Gandhi
gave him the responsibility of election management, only then it was decided
that the Gandhi family’s trust lies in Baghel.
