Dearness allowance of employees has been increased by 5% in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced this late on Sunday night. This rate of dearness allowance will be applicable from May 1, 2022. With this decision, employees of different levels of the state government will get more than two and a half thousand to seven-eight thousand rupees.
The unions of officers and employees of the state had been demanding for a long time to increase the dearness allowance. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel had announced the good news in the honor ceremony organized by the employees. The employees were hopeful that a decision on their dearness allowance would be taken in the cabinet on May 1. With this increased rate, the dearness allowance of the state employees has become 22% of the basic pay. Till now he has been getting 17% dearness allowance. This rate will be applicable from May 1. The employees were agitated to demand an increase in dearness allowance. In March, the employees tried to gather at the assembly. In April, a union of employees had announced a mass holiday protest, which was called off.
Various organizations of employees are demanding dearness allowance of central employees. According to the organizations, central workers are getting 34% dearness allowance. The state government is giving them only a 17% dearness allowance. Meanwhile, the inflation of essential commodities has increased manifold. Due to the non-increased dearness allowance, those people are suffering a lot financially.
Chhattisgarh State Electricity Company has increased the dearness allowance of the employees only last week. There the allowance of the employees has been increased by three percent. 16 thousand employees of the power company benefited from this decision.
