The Chief Minister of Punjab, Charanjit Singh Channi, scheduled to reach in Raipur to attend the ongoing three-day National Tribal Dance Festival on Friday, could not turn for the event. The Punjab Chief Minister was invited to the event as chief guest.

The officials of the Chhattisgarh government were informed by the Punjab Chief Minister’s Office that the Chief Minister’s visit to Chhattisgarh had been cancelled due to personal reasons. 

According to the officials, other programs of the tribal festival will continue at their scheduled time. It is believed that the next visit of Channican be decided during the state festival programme on November 1.

National Tribal Dance Festival is being organised at Government Science College ground in Raipur. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated the Festival on October 28 as the chief guest. Former RajyaSabha MP B K Hariprasad, Speaker of the Assembly Dr Charandas Mahant, Counselor of Uganda and Palestine were present as special guests. Artists from 27 states and six union territories of the country as well as 7 countries – Nigeria, Uzbekistan, Sri Lanka, Uganda, Palestine and Mali are participating.
