Organic farming and vermi compost should be promoted at national-level: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel
has said that there is a need to promote the production of organic manure and
vermicompost at the national level to encourage organic farming. This would help
in solving the problem of chemical fertilizer shortage in Chhattisgarh as well
as in other states of the country. This would not only improve soil health but
would also provide a better quality of agricultural produce

Baghel said that the COVID crisis had
affected the supply of raw material for production chemical fertilizers, which
led to the shortage of overall supply of chemical fertilizers, said Chief
Minister while addressing the meeting of State-Level Disha Committee
(Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee). This meeting was held at
New Circuit House here on Tuesday to review, monitor, evaluate the progress of various
schemes of central government and to establish better coordination between
the center and the state.

Chief Minister further said in his address that Chhattisgarh is
the only state in the country to have declared support price for the production
of Kodo, Kutki, and Ragi. Arrangements are also being made to procure and market
the millets. Lok Sabha MP Ramvichar Netam, who was present in the meeting,
appreciated the Millet Mission initiative and the program to promote the
production of organic manure and vermicompost in Chhattisgarh.

Baghel said that this meeting has led to
constructive discussions regarding various schemes. The members have given many
important suggestions, which will be considered during the implementation of
the schemes.

MNREGA, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Pradhan Mantri
Awas Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas
Yojana, Digital India, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, National Health Mission, Pradhan
Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Integrated Watershed Management Program, National
Rural Drinking Water Program, Clean India Mission and other schemes were
reviewed.

Other schemes including AMRIT Mission, Smart City Mission,
Sugamya Bharat Abhiyan, National Social Program, Integrated Power Development
Scheme, Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Adarsh Gram
Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana, Digital India, Beti Bachao-Beti
Padhao, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Prime Minister’s Mineral Welfare
Sector Scheme, implementation of National Food Security Act, Prime Minister’s
Employment Generation Programme, Jal Jeevan Mission and the infrastructure
development related schemes of Public Works Department, Railways and Telecom
Department were also reviewed.
