MNREGA office honours 140 women, Private Land beneficiaries.

Raipur. Under MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act), the state MNREGA office honoured 140 women who had benefited from the works of livelihood promotion in private land. Celebrating International Women’s Day as ‘Iconic Week’, five women from every district were honored, highlighting the ever-increasing participation of women beneficiaries in MNREGA. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister T.S. Singhdeo joined the program online from Manipur.
Addressing the award ceremony, the Panchayat and Rural Development Minister said that the livelihood-based work to be taken on private land under MNREGA should be approved. This will record their strong participation in the economic progress of the family. In a felicitation ceremony organized on the theme of “freedom to live with pride”, he appreciated the benefits and livelihoods of women beneficiaries from the assets built on their private land under MGNREGA from seven districts of Dhamtari, Gariaband, Rajnandgaon, Kanker, Kondagaon, Kabirdham and Dantewada. Took information Appreciating the work of these women, he also encouraged them.
In the program Ahilya Yadav of Kabirdham district, who got shed for goat rearing from MNREGA, Phuleshwari Bai Sahu of Gariaband district and Lata Bai of Dhamtari, who benefited from construction of dabri in private land for fish farming and for construction of poultry shed. Later, Padmani Kumeti of Kanker district, who rears poultry, told about her new means of livelihood and earning. Panchayat and Rural Development Minister TS Singhdeo asked these women about their work being in the poultry, goat and cattle sheds and also asked them about the fodder arrangement, treatment, medicines and the price they are getting in the market. He conveyed his best wishes for even better work ahead.
In the felicitation ceremony, Deputy Secretary and Additional Commissioner of Panchayat and Rural Development, MNREGA Ashok Choubey, President and Chief Executive Officer of all District Panchayats, and officers-employees of MNREGA State and field team were virtually present.
