Mahima Guru Peeth’ is an Effort to Preserve the Glorious History
‘Country’s First Chair Established in the Name of Mahima Guru Given by UGC in CU
Bilaspur. The Mahima Guru Peeth established in Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (Central University) will try to restore the ancient contemplation of Indian Spirituality with its glorious and distinguished past. This statement was made by Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal while presiding over the inauguration program of “Mahima Guru Peeth” given by the University Grants Commission at Silver Jubilee Auditorium on May 09, 2022 at 10 am.
Swami Shri Madan Mohan Das, Saint, Mahima Sampradaya, Durugapali Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh) was the Chief Guest of the inaugural program. The keynote speaker of the program was Dr. Awadhesh Pradhan, former Professor, Hindi Department, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. Among the guests on stage were present the Special Guest, Shri Rajneesh Singh, Hon’ble MLA, Beltara Vidhan Sabha, Prof. Devendra Nath Singh In-charge “Mahima Guru Peeth” and Head of Hindi Department, Prof. Manish Srivastava, Officer on Special Duty, Development Section, and Registrar of the University, Prof. Shailendra Kumar.
The program started with lighting the lamp and offering flowers to the idols of Maa Saraswati and Guru Ghasidas Baba. The guests on stage were welcomed with small saplings. On this occasion, Tarang Band gave a beautiful presentation of Saraswati Vandana and Kulgeet. Welcome Address was given by Dr. D.N. Singh. Professor Manish Srivastava threw light on the objectives and areas of research for the establishment of Mahima Guru Peeth.
The Chief Guest of the program, Swami Shri Madan Mohan Das, Saint, Mahima Sampradaya, Durugpali Mahasamund (Chhattisgarh) extending his best wishes on the establishment of Mahima Guru Peeth in Guru Ghasidas University, said that through this, may the Chair work as a centre of inspiration for world peace, non-violence and spirituality. Mahima Guru proved the resolve of literature and spirituality by making people aware against the then social evils.
Special guest Shri Rajneesh Singh, Hon’ble MLA, Beltara Vidhan Sabha said that it is my good fortune that there are three universities in my constituency. India is the land of sages and savants since ancient times. We have to preserve our tradition and culture.
Presiding over the program, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Professor Alok Kumar Chakrawal expressed his gratitude to the Union Education Minister, Hon’ble Shri Dharmendra Pradhan ji for the establishment of Mahima Guru Peeth. He said that our spirituality, tradition and cultural values have played an important role to unite the nation. It is our moral obligation to protect it.
The Vice-Chancellor said that break that wall which becomes a barrier to knowledge, let us walk on that path which becomes the way to the goal. This is the first time after upgradation as a Central University that the first official chair is being established in the form of “Mahima Guru Peeth”. This is the only bench in the country named after Mahima Guru, which has been established in a Central University.
The keynote speaker of the program, Dr. Awadhesh Pradhan, former Professor, Hindi Department, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi said that a new chapter is beginning with the establishment of Mahima Guru Peeth in Guru Ghasidas University. The results of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Chakrawal’s Herculean efforts are starting to show. He said that the more the string is pulled, the more distance the arrow travels. To achieve such goals, we should be strong.
He said that this bench will preserve tradition and cultural values along with self-study, and spirituality. As a Central University, the vision has changed here and a new window has opened for the academic field. Mahima Guru played an important role in making aware the underprivileged and the tribals of the then society. Through this bench, research will be done on his literature, poems and other articles.
The guests on stage were honored with mementos. At the end of the program, the Registrar of the University, Prof. Shailendra Kumar proposed the vote of thanks and the program was conducted by Mr. Murli Manohar Singh, Assistant Professor, Hindi Department. Deans of various schools, heads of departments, teachers, officers and a large number of students were present in the program.
