Lormi lad Dr Sandeep Pathak nominated to Rajya Sabha from Punjab seats

Raipur: The son of
Chhattisgarh’s farmer, Professor (Dr) Sandeep Pathak, has been nominated by Aam
Aadmi Party (AAP) to Rajya Sabha. Dr Pathak, a resident of Lormi in
Chhattisgarh and professor in IIT Delhi, has been nominated from Punjab. People
of Lormi celebrated the nomination of Dr Pathak to Rajya Sabha.

The tenure of 5 out of
7 Rajya Sabha seats from Punjab is going to end on April 9 and  March 21 
was the last date for fresh nominations for Rajya Sabha seats. Election
to the Rajya Sabha is proposed in the state on March 31. It is worthwhile to
mention, AAP has won 92 seats out of 117 in the Punjab Assembly elections held
recently. In such a situation, it is said that 6 out of 7 Rajya Sabha seats in
the state can go to the kit if AAP.

Meanwhile, AAP has
announced three names for the Rajya Sabha. 
They are former cricketer Harbhajan Singh, co-in-charge of Punjab,
Raghav Chadha and third name is of Professor Dr Sandeep Pathak of IIT Delhi.
Sandeep hails from Lormi in Mungeli district of Chhattisgarh. Sandeep’s family
still resides in Bataha village of Lormi. As soon as Sandeep’s name was
announced, celebrations started in the village.

Dr Pathak, the eldest
son of Shivkumar Pathak, a farmer living in Bataha, was born on October 4,
1979. His brother Pradeep Pathak and sister Pratibha Pathak are younger. Dr
Pathak’s primary education was done in his village. After this he went to
Bilaspur for high school studies. After completing MSc from there, he studied
in Hyderabad and then went to Britain for higher studies for 6 years. He
returned to India after doing his PhD from Cambridge University.

It is said that Dr
Pathak had worked for the Delhi elections as a member of poll strategist
Prashant Kishor’s team for a long time. After that he joined the advisory team of
Arvind Kejriwal. It is said about Sandeep that he has played the role of a big
strategist by staying behind the scenes in the formation of AAP’s government in
Punjab. He was also working for the formation of the organization of Aam Aadmi
Party in Punjab for some time.

After forming the
government in two states like Delhi and Punjab, the AAP is giving a lot of
attention to smaller states including Chhattisgarh which is going to poll in
2023. In such a situation, Dr Pathak cane be the face for Chhattisgarh
election. It is generally seen that Arvind Kejriwal works with IITians
especially by giving them important role in his team. In such a situation, the
way Dr Pathak is getting to chance to enter politics through Rajya Sabha, it
seems that Pathak will be given a special role in Chhattisgarh in the assembly
elections.
