Raipur: Chief minister
Bhupesh Baghel announced farmers would now be able to get in advance the vermi
compost and super compost from societies and gauthans, like seeds and
fertilizers.

Baghel made this major
announcement in the interest of farmers of the state, during the fund-transfer
program of Godhan Nyay Yojana held at his residence office late on Sunday. On
this occasion, he also directed to provide endowment funds to Gauthan
committees and women self-help groups for conducting the activities in a better
manner.

Meanwhile, Chief
Minister transferred online a total amount of Rs 5.38 crore to Gauthan Committees,
women Self-Help Groups, and the beneficiaries who sold cow dung in Gauthans
under Godhan Nyay Yojana.

Recently in Uttar
Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi promised to commence the scheme of dung
procurement from people there. Prior to this, the Standing Committee on Agriculture
Affairs in Parliament had demanded the implementation of Godhan Nyay Yojana
across country. “It is a matter of pride for the state of Chhattisgarh that
Jharkhand State Government has decided to implement our Godhan Nyay Yojana and
has included provision for the same in their budget”, said chief minister in
his address.

He added that success
of our Gauthans and Godhan Nyay Yojana is no secret. “I am proud to inform that
today 2800 Gauthans of the state have become self-supporting, which is more
than one third of the number of Gauthans built and operated in the state. It is
a matter of happiness that the self-supporting Gauthans are now investing their
own capital for procurement of cow dung and so far they have procured dung worth
Rs 12.60 crore, said he said while congratulating all the office-bearers and
members of the self-supporting Gauthan Samitis.

Speaking about the
benefits of Godhan Nyay Yojana, Baghel said more than 2.08 lakh people are
being benefitted under Godhan Nyay Yojana, and 45 per cent of these
beneficiaries are women. So far, construction of 10, 591 Gauthans has been
approved in the state, out of which 8, 048 Gauthans have been built.

At the onset,
Agriculture Production Commissioner Dr. Kamal Preet Singh gave detailed
information about the activities of Gauthan and the progress of Godhan Nyay
Yojana. He said that processing units are being set up in Gauthans to promote
income oriented activities. So far, an income of Rs 56.02 crore has been earned
by women groups through various income oriented activities.

Pradeep Sharma, Chairman of Chhattisgarh Mineral Development Corporation Girish
Devangan, Secretary Agriculture Dr. Bharathidasan, Director Veterinary Services
Chandan Sanjay Tripathi and along with other senior officials were present on
the occasion.
