Elderlies to get free-of-cost Ayurvedic treatment at state-run 'Sian Jatan' clinics

Raipur: ‘Sian Jatan’ clinics have been started in a total of 29 Ayurvedic centers of the state on the occasion of World Health Day.

As many as 906 elderly people above 60 years of age were provided treatment in these clinics. The chain of Sian Jatan Clinic was started today in two Ayurvedic Colleges, five District Ayurvedic Hospitals and 22 Community Health Centers in the state. Siyan Jatan Clinic will now be set up in all these centers on the first Thursday of every month.

Assistant Director, Directorate of AYUSH Dr. Vijay Sahu said that 80 elderly people were treated in Sian Jatan Clinic organized at Raipur Ayurvedic College Hospital and 52 in Bilaspur Ayurvedic College Hospital. 40 patients above 60 years of age were treated in Durg District Ayurvedic Hospital, 76 in Raigarh District Ayurvedic Hospital, 92 in Balod District Ayurvedic Hospital, ten in Surguja District Ayurvedic Hospital and 22 in Bastar District Ayurvedic Hospital. Similarly, a total of 534 elderly people were provided free-of-cost treatment in specialized therapy centers operating in 22 community health centers in Raipur, Raigarh, Balod, Bilaspur, Mungeli, Janjgir, Korba, Dhamtari, Mahasamund, Rajnandgaon, Kabirdham, Surajpur, Koriya, Jashpur and Kanker districts.

Dr. Sahu informed that Sian Jatan Clinics are being run in allopathic centers to take care of the health of senior citizens. Expanding this, now special OPD and Panchakarma services will be provided to the elderly people suffering from physical and mental problems arising in old age through Ayurveda in Ayurvedic hospitals of the state. The detailed description of the elderly who came for treatment at Sian Jatan Clinic will also be maintained so that they can be followed up if needed.
