Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel mounted a
scathing attack on the opposition for remarks made by Kalicharan Maharaj on Mahatma
Gandhi in the two-day long Dharm Sansad organized in Raipur.
“Chhattisgarh is a peace-loving state with
the spirit of common brotherhood among all people. We can’t tolerate speeches inflicting
hatred and violence here. Strict action will be taken against anyone trying to destroy the peaceful atmosphere here”, said Baghel before leaving for Madhya
Pradesh on Monday.
Mounting a scathing attack on the saffron party
Baghel said “no senior party leader has given a statement on this. Making
such remarks for the father of nation shows the mentality of speaker”.
He added that the BJP is trying to create an atmosphere
of religious conversion and communalism here in the last few months. However,
even after all the communal politics, the party failed to make a mark in the
civic body polls. Ex chief minister Raman Singh and Vijay Baghel couldn’t even
manage to save their wards in their home constituencies.
The chief minister said that an FIR has been
lodged against the concerned and strict action will be taken as per the law.

Meanwhile, an FIR has been lodged against Sant
Kalicharan of Maharashtra late on Sunday.
“The aim of Islam is to capture the nation
through politics. In 1947, we saw with our own eyes how Pakistan and Bangladesh
were captured. Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi destroyed the country that time; I
salute Nathuram Godse who killed him” said Sant Kalicharan in his speech on the
last day of Dharam Sansad organized here in Ravanbhata ground.
CPCC president Mohan Markam who reached civil
lines police station late on Sunday for lodging FIR said this statement on
Mahatama Gandhi comes as an insult to the whole country. He also raised slogans
of “Dhongi Baba Haye Haye…”
