CM appreciates youth Tarun Sahu for launching startup for marketing of indigenous varieties of paddy and pulses

Raipur:
Tarun Sahu, an agriculture graduate, hailing from Mungeli district of
Chhattisgarh, paid courtesy call to chief minister Bhupesh Baghel at his
residence office here today.

During
the meet, he told chief minister about startup named ‘Krishi Yug’, which he
started with few other youth, under which works are being done to save and
preserve indigenous varieties of paddy and pulses besides producing them
organically. They are also making indigenous produce available in market by
processing it in traditional way.

Baghel
appreciated work being done by Tarun Sahu and his start up and extended his
best wishes for their future endeavors.

Sahu
told the chief minister that the work of packaging and sale of indigenous
varieties of paddy and pulses are being done by his startup since one year. The
products are gaining popularity among people due to its superior aroma, flavor
and high quality. The production is high in hybrid varieties of crops, but
seems to be losing its flavor and aroma.

He
also informed that he had put up a stall at the International Trade Fair
organized at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi, where his products were a bit hit among
visitors. In this trade fair, orders for supply of 3 tonnes each of Kodo-Kutki
rice every month has also been received.

Meanwhile,
Krishi Yug Start Up is connecting local farmers and encouraging them to
practice organic farming of indigenous varieties. Production and marketing of
multiple varieties of paddy including Dubraj, Chhattisgarh Devbhog, Jawaphool,
Jeeraphool, Loktimanjhi, Telkasturi, Samuchin, Black Rice along with Arhar and
indigenous varieties of Kodo-Kutki is being done by the start-up. Agriculture department
joint director R L Khare was also present on the occasion.
