Chhattisgarh CM Bhupesh Baghel accuses BJP of politicizing Bhilai murder case by giving it a communal colour

Raipur Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Monday hit out at BJP accusing the opposition of politicizing the Bhilai murder case by giving it a communal colour, a day after BJP state president Arun Sao strongly condemned the incident and demanded action against the accused. Questioning the deteriorating law and order of Chhattisgrh, Sao on Sunday said that a youth was brutally murdered by a group of youths from a particular community. The only fault of the youth was that he raised slogan of Hindustan Zindabad while returning home after watching Bollywood movie ‘Gadar-2’. Meanwhile talking to media in Raipur on Monday, the Chief Minister raised concerns about the Bhilai murder case, accusing the BJP of attempting to inject a communal dimension into the tragic incident. The murder case involves a young man who was killed after returning from a movie in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, and has sparked widespread attention. The Chief Minister statement comes in the wake of a shutdown observed in Durg-Bhilai on Monday as a protest against the incident. BJP leaders also expressed support for the shutdown, prompting Baghel to assert that the BJP is making concerted efforts to give the incident a communal color. The Chief Minister explained that the young man had gone to watch a movie, and a heated argument escalated into the unfortunate murder. Baghel emphasized that all the suspects involved in the incident have been apprehended. However, he noted a concerted effort to politicize the case and give it a communal angle, suggesting that the BJP lacks other significant issues to focus on, leading them to exploit this incident for political gain. Following the incident, tension gripped the Khursipar area police station. The tragic events unfolded when Malkit Singh, a resident of Khursipar, was returning on his motorcycle with his friend after watching a movie. A group of 5-6 youths near the IIT grounds confronted them, leading to a heated argument. As the heated argument turned worse, the accused killed Malkit. Tasawwur Khan, 20, resident of Zone 1 Gautam Khursipar, Shubham Lahre, 21, resident of Shankar Nagar Satguru Factory near Chawani, Tarun Nishad, 22, resident near Sonia Gandhi Nagar Mahavir Provision Store in Khursipar, Rahul Singh, 19, resident of Gali Number 5, Gautam Nagar Khursipar, Fazal Qureshi, 23, , resident of Zone 1 Khursipar have been apprehended, sources said. On ticket allotment\ Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel also addressed the ongoing ticket allocation process within the Congress party. He mentioned that the process is underway, with the Screening Committee having already conducted meetings, and more meetings are scheduled before the release of the first list. Regarding Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s dissatisfaction expressed during the CWC meeting, Baghel noted that he also learned about it through the media. Baghel further explained his early departure from an event due to a Brahmin community conference in Bilaspur. He also mentioned that Priyanka Gandhi’s visit is scheduled for September 21, and Mallikarjun Kharge’s visit will take place on September 28.
