Aman Jyoti Jahire from Korba selected for National Child Bravery Award-2021

Korba:Indian Council for Child Welfare (ICCW) New Delhi has selected Aman Jyoti Jahire from Korba district of Chhattisgarh for the National Child Bravery Award-2021. 

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and Women and Child Development Minister Anila Bhendiya have congratulated Jahire for his achievement.  The award carries a certificate along with cash amount.

Jahire was also honoured with the State Bravery Award by the Chhattisgarh State Council for Child Welfare recently for his courageous deeds. Governor Anusuiya Uikey had honouredJahire. 

15-year-old Jahire saved the life of his friend Ashish Thakur, who was older than him, on August 1, 2021. On the occasion of Friendship Day, some students had gone to Paraskhola dam, 20 kilometres away from Korba town, for picnic.  Of these, student Ashish Thakur, who had gone to wash his hands and feet in the waterfall, slipped and fell into the waterfall and started drifting away in the rock and water. Seeing Ashish drifting away in the dangerous slippery rock and in the swift flow of the water, all the friends panicked as Thakur did not knew how to swim.

Seeing this,  people around and friends started shouting for help to get Ashish out of the water. Jahire, not caring for his own life, jumped into the water and prevented him from drifting away in the slippery rock which otherwise could have proved fatal.

Later, with the help of the friends, he took the unconscious injured student to the hospital. There was a big ditch ahead where the student fell and if Aman Jyoti Jahire had not saved him jumping into the water, then the student could have fallen into the ditch. Surprisingly even Aman Jyoti did not know swimming. Jahire had also suffered serious injuries in hands and chest while jumping into the water to save Ashish Thakur. Aman’s courage saved his friend Ashish’s life.
