Ambikapur. Adityaeshwar Sharan Singhdeo, nephew of State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister TS Singhdeo, got elected, unopposed, as District Panchayat Vice President. The seat of District Panchayat Vice President was vacant for the last ten months. Today, during the election process in the District Panchayat meeting room, no BJP-supported member was present, after which he was declared elected unopposed. In the 14-member district panchayat Surguja, 11 members supported by Congress came after electing them and they formed their government. After the formation of the government in the district, Madhu Singh was elected as the President of the District Panchayat and Rakesh Gupta was elected as the Vice-President, but after assuming the office, he had announced that he would resign from this post after one year and would hand over the command of the vice-president to Adityaeshwar Sharan Singhdeo, who started his political journey from the district panchayat. According to his announcement, Rakesh Gupta had tendered his resignation on 31 March 2021, but even after the resignation was accepted, the election could not be held.

During this, the vice-chairman’s chair remained vacant in the District Panchayat for ten months and many works including the meeting of the Education Standing Committee were affected. Today the election for District Panchayat Vice President was completed by Returning Officer Amritlal Dhruv and Assistant Returning Officer Yashpal Preksha. During this, BJP-supported members remained absent and only one nomination was submitted, after which he was elected unopposed. The certificate was given to the newly appointed District Panchayat Vice President by the Returning Officer.
