AY-4 variant of Covid in MP ,No impact on Chhattisgarh, but festivals and national tribal dance festival a worry

Rate of Covid-19 cases in Chhattisgarh stable at 0.1 per cent 

Raipur:The risk of a new variant of Corona has increased in Chhattisgarh during this festive season as seven cases of Delta Plus mutated AY-4 variant have surfaced in the neighbouring state Madhya Pradesh. This variant is said to be more contagious than other variants of the disease so fare identified. 

Chhattisgarh Health Department has reportedly issued caution in the state and the department is monitoring the reports coming from across the country. It also has a genome sequencing report from the National Center for Disease Control.

Dr Subhash Mishra, Director of Epidemic Control in Chhattisgarh, said that Mutation is a normal process in the virus. In this process it becomes more dangerous than before and sometimes much weaker than before. 

Random samples from here are regularly sent to the lab in Visakhapatnam and they send the report to the National Center of Disease Control. “We receive the information from the National Centre. If there is a mutation or some danger, then that report warns us,” Dr Mishra said. At present mutation has not been confirmed in any of the samples sent from Chhattisgarh. Health department officials said that in Madhya Pradesh also, there is no specific information regarding the effect of the new variant.

A similar variant was found in the UK

It is learnt that this variant of Corona was found in Britain. It is feared that it has reached through passengers. At present, this variant is also being monitored in Madhya Pradesh. The experts of Chhattisgarh are also keeping a close eye on the information related to this.

Tribal dance festival also worried

The health department is also concerned about the people coming from different parts of the country and abroad in the National Tribal Dance Festival. Director of Epidemic Control Dr Subhash Mishra said that the process of examining the artists. Is being done at the airport itself. The vaccination certificates of artists coming from other states are being checked. In the absence of a certificate, an antigen test is being done.

249 active cases across the state

The situation of Corona in Chhattisgarh does not looks alarming at present. On Tuesday, 26 new cases of corona were confirmed across the state. There were only 249 active cases in the state. Maximum 46 patients were found in Durg district followed by Korba 38, Raipur 28, Janjgir-Champa 21 and Bastar 20.
