Chhattisgarh Health Minister T S Singhdeo has directed the officials of his department to start sickle cell testing and counselling centers in all the districts and government medical colleges of the state by October 2 in a meeting of the Board of Directors of Chhattisgarh Sickle Cell Institute at Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College, Raipur on Monday. Singhdeo asked to provide necessary training to the staff working in these centres and directed to recruit doctors for this through walk-in-interview.
Singhdeo asked for screening of all the family members of the sickle cell patients on priority in the tribal districts.
Health Department secretary Prasanna R, Commissioner Dr C R Prasanna, Vice Chancellor of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay AYUSH University, Dr AK Chandrakar, Director of Health Services BhimSingh, Director of AYUSH P Dayanand, Director of National Health Mission Vilas Sandipan Bhoskar, Director of Medical Education Dr Vishnu Dutt, Managing Director of CGMSC Abhijit Singh, PanditJawaharlal Nehru Memorial Medical College Dean DrTripti Nagaria, Dr Usha Joshi, Director General, State Sickle Cell Institute and Dr A T K Dabke were also present in the meeting.
