Bilaspur: Two people tests positive for Covid after returning from USA

Two people returned from USA have been tested Covid-19 positive in Bilaspur
district.

The
health department has kept them under observation after which RTPCR test was
done which came positive. The samples have been sent to Bhubaneswar for genome
sequencing. The department has started testing the people who came in contact
with them on the basis of travel history of both the people.

Health
officials said that since November 17, 57 people have come from abroad in
Bilaspur. Out of these, 15 citizens were identified and tested. Out of which
the 2 people have been tested positive for coronavirus. Both the infected persons
have been kept under surveillance by the department. Contact tracing and their
RTPCR testing is also being done.

Among
the two persons, one is a woman resident of Railway Officers Colony and the
other one is 30-year-old youth lives in Khamtrai Road. The woman has been
isolated in her house whereas the youth had gone to Mumbai even before the
report came. The health department team contacted him after the report came
positive. After warning of police action, the youth has come back to Bilaspur.
After this the team of Health Department has also kept him under observation.
After the RTPCR report of three members of his family came negative, the team
has also got half a dozen people who came in contact with him whose reports are
awaited.

The
health team has still not been able to find 42 people who have returned from
abroad. Therefore, even their samples could not be taken. The tracing team has
said to find them soon and take RTPCR samples for testing. The people returning
from abroad have either gone to other states or have reached other cities. At
the same time, the mobile number of many is coming switched off, making it difficult
for the team to trace them.

The
Health Department has made the Central Library located at Nutan Chowk in
Sarkanda as a control room. The tracing of people coming from abroad is being
done here. Tracing team nodal officer Dr Sameer Tiwari said that a special team
of the health department is monitoring the people who have come from abroad.
They have been asked to remain alert as a precaution. They have been advised to
take care of their health condition and get tested. He said that foreigners
have been identified in Sagar Homes, Green Garden Colony, Khamtrai, Nehru
Nagar, Jail Road, Basant Vihar Colony of SECL, and Mopka. The tracing team is
also taking health information by contacting these people on mobile in the
morning and evening.
