Raipur. Supreme Court has asked the High Court of Chhattisgarh for the hearing of the alleged one thousand crore hospital scam. The Supreme Court has sent back the case to the Chhattisgarh High Court while hearing a Special Leave Petition (SPL) alleging a Rs 1000 crore fake hospital scam. The Apex Court has asked the High Court to listen to the petitioners Vivek Dhand and M K Raut before delivering its decision.

Kundan Singh Thakur, a resident of Kushalpur, Raipur, has levelled serious allegations against the retired IAS Officers. A Public Interest Litigation filed in the Court claimed that the retired IAS officers committed gross anomalies which were exposed through documents procured under Right to Information. An NGO is running a hospital meant for the poor in Raipur for which equipment/machines worth crores were purchased. Crores were also spent on the maintenance of these equipment/machines. There was no such hospital, and crores were sunk through paper works in 2015-16.

Order for FIR is already issued

In 2018, a PIL was filed in court through advocate Devarshi Thakur. During the heading, scam of Rs 1 crore exposed and taking a serious note of the case; the High Court directed to file FIR against the officers involved in the scam in 2019. The Advocate General represented the state government in the Court and appealed to the High Court to hand over the case to the State Police instead of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The State government urged the Court to monitor the police investigation. In the meantime, the retired IAS and former chief secretary Vivek Dhand, and retired IAS M L Raut filed an SLP in the Supreme Court. Hearing the SLP Supreme Court asked the High Court for the hearing.

The case history

The PIL filed by advocate Devarshi Thakur in the High Court, on behalf of Kundan Singh Thakur, reads that six IAS officers of the state – Dr Alok Shukla, Vivek Dhand, M K Raut, Sunil Kujur, B L Agrawal and P P Soti – along with Satish Pandey, Rajesh Tiwari, Ashok Tiwari, Harman Khalkho, M L Pandey and Pankaj Verma had committed corruption of crores of rupees in the name of fake institute State Resource Centre (SRC) (State Resource Institute Centre for Destitute). The High Court had asked the CBI for an inquiry and to file an FIR. The IAS officers moved to the Supreme Court. Now the case has returned to the High Court on the directive of the Supreme Court.
