New Delhi. Condoling the death of legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and senior party leader and former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have said that her death has caused an irreparable loss to the country.

 

In her condolence message, Mrs. Gandhi said, “Shocked to hear the melodious voice of Nightingale Lata ji became silent today. An era has come to an end. Generations to come will remember her heart touching voice, her patriotic songs and her struggles in life. It will be an inspiration for all. Salute and heartfelt tribute in her last journey.”

 

Dr Singh said in his condolence message, “Deeply shocked to hear the news of Lata Mangeshkar’s passing. India has lost one of its great daughters. She was the ‘Nightingale’ of India and through her songs she brought about cultural unity in the country.” Her death is an irreparable loss to the nation and the void left by his death cannot be filled. My wife and I offer our condolences to the family members of Lata ji and pray to God for her Praying for peace to the soul.”

Leaders and diplomats across the world condoled the death of Bharat Ratna vocal queen Lata Mangeshkar on Sunday.

 

Sri Lankan Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa tweeted, “Long Live the nightingale of India Lata Mangeshkar. Thank you for decades of entertainment crossing borders. You live up to the saying ‘Music is the global language’.”

 

Mr. Rajapakse said, “My condolences to his family and the people of India. His memories will live on through his music.”

 

Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Fawad Chaudhry said that she was the uncrowned empress of music. He wrote in his tweet, “A great personality is no more with us. Lata Mangeshkar was the queen of music. She ruled the music world for decades. She was the uncrowned queen of music. His voice will always rule the hearts of people. Homage.”

German Ambassador to India and Bhutan Walter J. Lindner also tweeted Mangeshkar’s famous quote in Hindi saying, “My voice is my identity. India’s Nightingale Lata Mangeshkar, singer and musical genius passed away at the age of 92. A legend, An irreplaceable voice and a center of music for seven decades! Very sad news.. Her legacy will live on forever… Tribute to Lata Mangeshkar ji.”

 

Ninety two-year-old Lata Mangeshkar died in a hospital in Mumbai after fighting Corona for 28 days.
