CM honours the kin of the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh

Raipur:Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel announced to install a life sized statute of Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh at the historic Jaistambh Chowk in the state capital Raipur. He also announced to make Sonakhan of Baloda Bazaar district a Tehsil. To be noted, Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh was hanged by the then British government at Jaistambh Chowk on December 10, 1857. 

Chief Minister stated this while addressing a public meeting organised at Sonakhan. He also unveiled a life-size statue of Martyr Veer Narayan Singh in the Martyrs Memorial Complex. He also gave gifts of various development works worth Rs 28.60 crore here. 

The programme was presided over by the Tribal and Scheduled Castes Development Minister Dr Premsai Singh Tekam while Industries Minister Kawasi Lakhma, Parliamentary Secretary and MLA Chandradev RaiShakuntala Sahu, Chhattisgarh Textbook Corporation Chairman Shailesh Nitin Trivedi were present as special guests. Krishak Kalyan Parishad President Surendra Sharma, Zila Panchayat President Rakesh Verma, and District President Hitendra Thakur were also present on the occasion.

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel honoured the kin of martyr Veer Narayan Singh by presenting shawls and shriphal. He also handed over the enhanced monthly pension order letters sanctioned by the state government to the descendants of the martyr. According to the order, now their descendants will get a pension of Rs 10,000 per month which was only Rs 1,000 earlier. 

Assuring that farmers of the state will not face any problem during paddy procurement, Baghel said the government has increased the price of gunny bags from Rs 18 to Rs 25. In the last ten days, 13 lakh 85 thousand metric tonnes of paddy has been procured across the state. 

He urged the farmers to donate paddy stubble in the state-run Gauthans for providing fodder to cattle besides requesting them to use vermi-compost made by women self-help groups in the Gauthans. He said that this organic manure is best alternative to DAP. 

In this line, there will also be a holiday from this year on the festival of ‘Chherchera’.

Presiding over the programme, Dr Tekam said that the government has increased the number of cooperative societies from 1300 to 2056 for the convenience of farmers so that they do not have to travel long distances for fertilizer and seeds. 

Lakhma said in his address that this government is pro-poor and tribals.
