Godhan Nyay Yojana is being operated as a mission in the state: CM Bhupesh Baghel

Raipur: Godhan Nyay
Yojana, the first of its kind scheme started by Chhattisgarh government has
been accepted as a model scheme in the whole country. People of across country
and the world will get a glimpse of this scheme through state’s tableaux which
will be rolled down the Rajpath on the upcoming occasion of Republic Day, said
Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel.

He was addressing a
programme organized at his residence office today to transfer funds to
beneficiaries under Godhan Nyay Yojana.

Chief Minister said
that this scheme is being operated on a mission mode in Chhattisgarh. Rural
Industrial Parks are being developed rapidly here with the aim of boosting
livelihood opportunities in the Gauthans established in the villages. Now, the
work of setting up oil extraction mill and pulse mill has been started in
Gauthans to promote income generating activities. In the first phase, oil
extraction mills are being established in 148 Gauthans and pulse mills in 188
Gauthans of the state.

On this occasion, the
Chief Minister virtually released an amount of Rs 4.21 crore 21 to cattle
rearers, Gauthan committees and women Self-Help Groups associated with
state-run Gauthan. This includes payment of Rs 2.76 crore in lieu of purchase
of cow dung in the last fortnight and Rs 87 lakh and Rs 58 lakh to Gauthan
committees and women SHGs respectively as dividend. So far, Rs 122.17 crore has
been paid to cattle rearers in lieu of purchase of cow dung while Rs 45.31
crore to Gauthan Committees and Rs 29.46 crore to women Self-Help Groups.

“The scheme has
proved to be beneficial in reducing cost of agriculture in the state by
promoting use of organic manure among farmers. Crop diversification is also
being encouraged and processing of agricultural produce is being arranged in
Gauthans. This will boost the income of the farmers”, said the Chief
Minister.

Heaping praise on the
women SHGs engaged in the work of manufacturing vermi-compost, super-compost
and other products from cow dung, Baghel said that more than 10.38 lakh
quintals of vermi compost and more than 4.36 lakh quintals of super compost
manure has been produced by these women so far. This has helped to give a boost
to organic farming in the state and overcoming chemical fertilizer shortage.
These women have earned an income of Rs 50.57 crore so far by adopting various
income generation activities in Gauthans. This has instilled a new confidence
in women’s groups, making them self-reliant.

Agriculture Production
Commissioner Dr Kamal Preet Singh gave detailed information about the progress
of Godhan Nyay Yojana at the beginning of programme. He said that 10,591
Gauthans have been approved in the state so far, out of which 7,933 are fully
operational. Over 61.07 lakh quintals of cow dung has been procured in Gauthans
under Godhan Nyay Yojana so far. He also gave information about production and
sale of Vermicompost and other income generating activities being conducted in
Gauthans.

Chief Secretary Amitabh
Jain, Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahoo, Secretary to Chief Minister Siddharth
Komal Pardeshi, State Nodal Officer of Godhan Nyay Yojana Dr. S. Bharathidasan,
and Director (Horticulture) Matheswaran V. and Joint Secretary Agriculture Mr.
K.C. Paikra along with other senior officials were present on the occasion.
