Four CRPF jawans killed while 3 injured after being shot by a colleague

Raipur: Four CRPF personnel were killed and three injured after being shot by a colleague with AK-47 late on Sunday night in Sukma district.

Police said that the accused jawan has been taken into custody and the exact reason for the firing is yet to be revealed. The incident is of 217 Battalion Camp located at village Linganapalli in Konta block. At around 3.15 am, a CRPF jawan Ritesh Ranjan opened fire on his comrades. Other jawans rushed to the incident spot and senior officials were informed about the incident.

Two soldiers died on the spot due to bullet injuries. Five injured jawans were rushed to a hospital 11 kms away where 2 died during treatment while the condition of the other 2 is said to be critical. 3 jawans killed in the firing incident were from Bihar, while 1 was a resident of West Bengal. Information about the fourth jawan is not yet available. 

The deceased jawans include Dhanji, Dharmendra Kumar and Rajmani Kumar Yadav residents of Bihar and Rajib Mandal, resident of West Bengal. Apart from these, jawans Dharmendra Kumar Singh, Dharmatma Kumar and Malaya Ranjan Maharana are injured, said the police. 

Meanwhile, cheif minister Bhupesh Baghel has expressed deep condolence over the sad demise of four jawans in the unfortunate firing incident that took place at Maraiguda Linglapalli CRPF camp in Sukma district. 

Baghel has directed the officials concerned to take every necessary measures to ensure that such incidents do not recur. He has expressed condolences towards the deceased jawans and have deeply empathized with their families. He has directed the officials concerned to provide the best possible treatment facilities to the jawans, who were injured in this incident.
