First Omicron case confirmed in Chhattisgarh State, 52-year-old from Bilaspur tests positive for omicron variant

Raipur:
A patient of Omicron variant of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Bilaspur
district. Health Department officials informed that a 52-year-old man from
Bilaspur district, who has recently returned from the United Arab Emirates, was
found COVID positive and his sample was sent to the Institute of Life Sciences
Bhubaneswar for Genomic Sequencing Test (WGS). Health Department has received
the test report today, which confirms that he is infected with the Omicron
(“Omicron” B.1.1529) variant of COVID-19.
