Bhupesh Baghel on Thursday virtually released an amount of Rs 10.70 crore online
to cattle rearers, women Self-Help Groups associated with Gauthans, and Gauthan
committees under Godhan Nyay Yojana during a programme organized at Rajpur in
Balrampur district. The amount includes payment of Rs 2.34 crore in lieu of cow
dung purchased from cattle rearers, farmers and landless from April 16 to April
30 and Rs 5.04 crore to Gauthan committees and Rs 3.32 crore to women SHGs as
dividend.

Agriculture minister Ravindra
Choubey, urban administration minister Dr. Shiv Kumar Dahriya, parliamentary
secretary Chintamani Maharaj, advisor to chief minister Pradeep Sharma, chief
secretary Amitabh Jain, additional chief secretary to chief minister Subrat
Sahoo, principal secretary and Godhan Nyay Mission Coordinator Dr. Alok Shukla,
agriculture production commissioner Dr. Kamal Preet Singh along with other
senior officials were present on the occasion.

The amount of Godhan
Nyay Yojana is being released to the beneficiaries regularly every fortnight as
promised by Chief Minister. Chief Minister will be on a tour of Surguja
division till May 11 as a part of his meet and greet campaign titled ‘Bhent-Mulaqat
Abhiyan’. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel today released an amount of Rs 10.70
crore online as 43rd installment to the beneficiaries of this scheme amidst his
tour ensuring that there is no delay in releasing the amount of Godhan Nyay
Yojana.

Godhan Nyay Yojana is
first-of-its-kind scheme in the country and world under which cow dung is being
purchased at the rate of Rs 2 per kg. Rs 136.22 crore has already been paid to
villagers in lieu of cow dung purchased till April 15 in Gauthans. Today, after
payment of Rs 2.34 crore to cow dung vendors, the amount has increased to Rs
138.56 crore. Rs 59.57 crore has been paid as dividend to Gauthan committees
and Rs 38.98 crore to women self-help groups so far.

Cow dung purchased
under the scheme is being used to manufacture various products including vermicompost,
super compost, and super compost plus on a large scale in the state-run
Gauthans. Nearly 13 lakh 94 thousand quintals of vermi compost and more than 4
lakh 97 thousand quintals of super compost and 18 thousand 925 quintals of
super compost plus has been manufactured by women SHGs. This is being supplied to
government departments and farmers at a concessional rate through societies. The
women groups are also earning an additional income by manufacturing and selling
‘gau-kasht’, earthen lamps, incense sticks, idols and other stuffs. Apart from
this, various other income-oriented activities are being conducted in Gauthans,
due to which women SHGs have received an income of Rs 65 crore 54 lakh so far. As
many as 12,013 women self-help groups comprising of about 82725 members are directly
associated with Gauthans in the state.
 

Electricity generation
from cow dung has been started in Gauthans. Besides, MoU has been signed to manufacture
natural paint using cow dung. According to the direction of Chief Minister
Bhupesh Baghel, Gauthans are being developed as Rural Industrial Parks. To
promote income-oriented activities, agriculture and forest produce based
processing units are being set up rapidly in the state. In the first phase, establishment
of oil mills in 161 Gauthans and Pulse Mills in 197 Gauthans has been started.
So far, oil mills have been established in 38 Gauthans and Pulse Mills in 91
Gauthans.

Construction of
Gauthans is being done at a rapid pace in the villages for efficient livestock
management and conservation. So far, approval has been given for construction
of Gauthans in 10,622 villages in the state, out of which 8,397 Gauthans are functional
and 3 thousand 89 Gauthans have become self-supporting. Cow dung worth Rs 13
crore 18 lakh has been purchased by self-supporting Gauthans using their own
funds. More than 2 lakh 11 thousand rural and livestock farmers are getting
benefited from Godhan Nyay Yojana. Women make up 45.19 per cent of those earning
additional income by selling cow dung. More than one lakh 18 thousand landless
families are getting benefited from this scheme.
