Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Bhupesh Baghel will be honoured with ‘Mahatma Phule Samta Puraskar’ in Pune on Sunday, on Samta Diwas, the 131st death anniversary of Mahatma Phule. In a function to be organized by All India Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad at Mahatma Phule Memorial ‘Samta Bhoomi’ in Pune, National President of the council, Chhagan Bhujbal will felicitate Baghel by presenting him Phule turban, honorary shawl and memento.
On Samta Diwas, All India Mahatma Phule Samta Parishad gives the ‘Mahatma Phule Samta Puraskar‘ to the personalities who have made a remarkable contribution in social, political, literature, or journalism.
He has been selected for this year’s award for his exceptional works for providing justice to the underprivileged sections of society during his tenure. Under Chief Minister Baghel, Chhattisgarh Government has launched Rajiv Gandhi Kisan Nyay Yojana to provide a fair price of crops to the farmers in Chhattisgarh, Godhan Nyay Yojana to benefit the livestock farmers and landless labourers with income and employment, and Rajiv Gandhi Grameen Bhoomiheen Krishi Mazdoor Nyay Yojana to provide Rs 6000 thousand annually to the landless agricultural labourers. Besides, the government commenced many schemes for the welfare of tribals, forest dwellers and the weaker section. These schemes have improved their standard of living. Under Suraji Gaon Yojana, several rural women have been associated with the income-oriented activities in Gothans built in the villages.
