Chhattisgarh gears up for Covid-19 vaccination of minors

Raipur:
The state government is gearing up to begin Covid-19 vaccination drive for
minors from January 3. Children of age group 15 to 18 years will be inoculated
in this phase.

State
immunization officials informed that vaccination of this age group will be done
in all vaccination centers across the state. Over 16.39 lakh children will be
vaccinated against the infectious disease. Covaxin will be administered to this
age group as per the guidelines of central government. Detailed guidelines are
yet to come.

Vaccination
will begin only after training of the personnel. At present, 8 lakh doses of Covaxin
are available with the state government. An estimated demand will be sent to
the centre soon to ensure timely supply of vaccine.

The
officials informed that online registration for children will begin from January
1. For this a new link is being created on the CoWin portal. Class 10 school identity
card has also been recognized for identification apart from Aadhar card.
Facility of onsite registration may also be available.

Meanwhile,
a booster dose of Covid-19 will also be administered to health workers, front
line workers and people above 60 years of age. This round of vaccination will
start from January 10. Under this, people who have taken two doses of vaccines
are to be given another dose of the same vaccine. Preparations are underway to
administer booster doses to 3.20 lakh front line workers, 3.40 lakh health
workers and about 16 lakh elderly people in the state.
