Chhattisgarh CM asks Chief Secy to prepare an action plan for scientific and systematic use of cow urine in agriculture sector

Raipur: Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel instructed authorities concerned to prepare an action plan for scientific and systematic use of cow urine in the agriculture sector in Chhattisgarh. Chief Minister has directed Chief Secretary to prepare an action plan within two weeks regarding the possibilities of scientific use of cow urine in agriculture after holding discussion with the agricultural scientists, farmers using cow urine instead of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and experts of Kamdhenu University.

“There is a gradual decrease in soil fertility with the continuous use of chemical fertilizers and toxic pesticides. Besides, excessive use of chemicals in agriculture is also adversely affecting the health of the general public. The use of Vermicompost and Super Compost manufactured in the Gauthans of the state has shown positive results. Chhattisgarh is heading towards organic and regenerative farming”, said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel. 

Cow urine has a good fertilizer value and can be used as an alternative to toxic chemicals in agriculture. There are examples of successful use of cow urine in some places of the state itself, he added. 

Chief Minister Mr. Baghel also stressed on the need of collecting researches conducted in the country so far on this topic, before promoting the use of cow urine on a large scale.
