Raipur will host the National Tribal Dance Festival from November 1 to 3.

Raipur. Forests cover approximately 44% of the land in Chhattisgarh. The state is home to 42 different tribes. Every tribe has its festivals, culture, and artistic traditions. Chhattisgarh tradition and culture are a synthesis of all of these differences. The tribal population accounts for 31% of the total population in CG. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, tribal culture in Chhattisgarh is gaining a new identity on a global scale. The state is hosting the Tribal Dance Festival for the third time in this regard. The Chief Minister spearheaded the establishment of a significant tradition in the form of the National Tribal Dance Festival in the state. This endeavour is proving beneficial not only for Chhattisgarh but also for tribal communities worldwide.

Teams from all states and union territories, as well as those from nine other countries, will compete in this event. The event will begin on November 1, Chhattisgarh Foundation Day. Raipur will host the National Tribal Dance Festival for three days. Around 1500 tribal artists will perform at this event, with 1400 from various Indian states and union territories and the remaining 100 from other countries.

The Tribal Dance Festival is now in its third year. Last year, twelve countries expressed interest in this event, with seven taking part. This year, 26 countries have expressed interest, with nine planning to participate. The festival will feature performances by tribal artists from Mozambique, Mongolia, Tongo, Russia, Indonesia, Maldives, Serbia, New Zealand, and Egypt.

There will be two competitions at the National Tribal Dance Festival. The winners will receive prizes worth Rs. 20 lakh. First, second, and third place will receive cash prizes of Rs. 5 lakh, Rs. 3 lakh, and Rs. 2 lakh, respectively. The dance festival will begin on the morning of November 1, and state ornamentation will be presented in the evening on State Foundation Day.

The Tribal Dance Festival will come to an end on November 3. This festival will promote cultural and artistic exchange between tribal artists from various countries and civilizations on a national and international scale. Furthermore, these communities will become more aware of one another’s distinct lifestyles, cultures, and food habits. The festival will have seminars to encourage discussions about tribal development. The forum will feature prominent experts.
