IAS and poet Sanjay Alung to recieve ‘Sutra Samman’ award

Raipur: Bilaspur divisional commissioner who is also a poet and author will be given the prestigious award for literature ‘Sutra Samman’ award this year. The award is given every year since the last 25 years in the memory of folk poet Thakur Puran Singh.

Underlining the continuous contribution of Sanjay Alung in the field of literature, it was stated that his poems are poems connected to our roots and life. In the poetry collection ‘Nadi Usi Tarah Sundar Thi Jaise Koi Bagh’, the poems created the narrative of life. Alung did continuous and important work on the folk culture and history of Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, Alung has published three poetry collections, namely Shav, Pagdandi Chhip Gayi Thi (this collection focuses on Chhattisgarh) and ‘Nadi Usi Tarah Sundar Thi Jaise Koi Bagh’. He has received many honors including Kavita’s Dinkar Samman, Shrikant Verma Samman etc.

He is also an expert historian of Chhattisgarh. His book ‘Chhattisgarh: Itihas aur Sanskriti’ received the highest and prestigious award for best research education writing by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
