Leader of opposition Dr Charandas Mahant has made a controversial statement about PM Narendra Modi and industrialist Naveen Jindal. The politics of Chhattisgarh has been heated regarding this statement. While BJP leader Sanjay Shrivastava complained to the Election Commission against this statement, Chhattisgarh BJP state in-charge Nitin Nabin slammed Mahant.
In Rajnandgaon public meeting on Tuesday, Mahant said that if anyone can stand up against Narendra Modi, it is their future MP Bhupesh Baghel. He said, “We need a man with a stick against PM Modi.”

Mahant, who arrived to participate in the nomination rally of Congress candidate Bhupesh Baghel, said that Navin Jindal looted Raigarh and mines. These people have done the same to Chhattisgarhi people. “We carried them on our heads. We are not ashamed to say that such people should be hit with shoes.”
Nitin Nabin said, “I am also Modi’s family and I want to tell the Congress leaders to hit me first with a stick.”  The public will definitely respond to this statement and slap the Congress party on the face.
Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Vishnudeo Sai said,  “We condemn the statement made by the opposition leader. I say to the Congressmen that if they have courage, I am also a part of the Modi family. If they hit me with sticks, hit me on the head first. The Congressmen have lost their mental balance, so they are talking nonsense.”
Responding to Mahant’s statement, state finance minister OP Chaudhary said that Modi is not the name of a person. Modi is the name of a thought which is making India a developed nation. Finance Minister said, “I am Modi too, beat me. Every worker of ours is saying that I am also Modi, hit me too with the stick. Congress is thinking of fear terror and running a dictatorial government. First the people of Chhattisgarh taught a lesson, now the people of the country will teach a lesson to the Congress.”
Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition, Dr Mahant, in view of the growing controversy over his statement, said that what he said is being distorted and propagated.
Sushil Anand Shukla, Congress Communications Department head, said that the Leader of Opposition never said to attack PM Modi, he said that he would stand up to him with the same strength to fight politically.
