CM Baghel expresses displeasure over the use of chemical paint by construction departments, directs to use cow dung paint for government buildings

Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has given instructions to compulsorily use cow dung paint for painting the buildings of all the government departments, corporations and local bodies.
Expressing displeasure over the use of chemical paint by the construction departments despite the instructions issued earlier, chief minister said “action will be taken against the officers found guilty of violating the aforementioned instructions.”
Chief minister directed the chief secretary to issue instructions to all the departments, corporations and local bodies to compulsorily use cow dung paint for painting the buildings. He said that using the paint made of cow dung paint will contribute towards the strengthening of rural economy and environmental protection.
Meanwhile, paint mentioned above is being prepared from cow dung by women self-help groups in Gauthan of Hirapur Jarwai near Raipur. Under Godhan Nyaya Yojana, vermicompost, supercompost and other products are being manufactured in Gauthans using the cow dung procured at Rs 2 per kg. Production of electricity from cow dung and manufacturing of natural paint has been started recently.
Godhan Nyaya Yojana has given impetus to the rural economy and generated plethora of employment opportunities in the villages. The scheme has also creatred an additional income source for the villagers, animal herders and women groups. An amount of Rs 380 crore has been paid in the last two years to the beneficiaries of Godhan Nyay Yojana. With the amount received from the scheme, the villagers have got the means to meet their minor needs. And now with the growing sales of dung paint, people of the village be benefitted furthermore.
