“Chhattisgarh Takes a Major Leap in Renewable Energy: MoU Signed Between CSPGCL and NTPC Green Energy for 2 GW Solar Power Projects, Paving the Way for Sustainable Development and Employment Opportunities”

A groundbreaking Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed at the headquarters of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies in Danganiya, Raipur, between Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company Limited (CSPGCL) and NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a subsidiary of NTPC. The collaboration aims to establish a joint venture company to develop solar energy projects with a cumulative capacity of 2 gigawatts (2,000 megawatts) across the state.

 

Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai termed the agreement a transformative step, heralding a new era in renewable energy for Chhattisgarh.

 

Energy Secretary and Chairman of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, Rohit Yadav, highlighted the initiative as a historic milestone in advancing the state’s renewable energy capabilities.

 

The agreement was formalized in the presence of S.K. Katiyar, Managing Director of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies, and P.K. Mishra, Regional Executive Director of NTPC. Representing NGEL, the MoU was signed by General Manager (Engineering) Dhirendra Joshi, while Chief Engineer (Corporate Planning and Business Development) Girish Gupta signed on behalf of CSPGCL.

 

The joint venture company will spearhead renewable energy projects aligned with the state’s Renewable Energy Obligations (RGO), ensuring the steady availability of sustainable energy from green sources.

 

The partnership is projected to generate significant employment opportunities in the green energy sector, meet future electricity demands, and drive Chhattisgarh’s economic growth and development.

 

Key attendees at the event included E.D. C.L. Netam, M.R. Bagde, Sandeep Modi, and Chief Engineers J.S. Bonde, Rajneesh Jangde, M.S. Kanwar, Rohit Daharwal, Sanjay Shukla, and Manish Gupta from Chhattisgarh State Power Generation Company.
