Bilaspur Police Conduct Successful Campaign Against Illegal Drugs, Arrest 1,845 People and Reduce Crime

Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel ordered a drive against illegal drugs in February. The Director General of Police, Ashok Juneja and Inspector General of Police Bilaspur, B.N. Meena, led the campaign with the Superintendent of Police, Bilaspur, Santosh Kumar Singh. They instructed all police station in-charges in Bilaspur to take action against people involved in illegal drugs in their area. They also conducted awareness programmes to educate people about the harmful effects of drugs.
During the campaign, the police arrested 1,845 people in 1,733 cases related to illegal drugs. Out of those, the police sent 301 to jail in non-bailable cases. The campaign effectively reduced crimes such as assault, molestation, and theft. However, the number of crimes increased by 30%, mainly due to the increased proceedings in NDPS and Excise cases.
The police seized illegal liquor, drugs, and other intoxicants during the campaign. They also took action against people driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. In addition, they organized awareness programmes in schools, colleges, and public places to educate people about the dangers of drugs.
Overall, the campaign against illegal drugs in Bilaspur was successful in reducing crime and raising awareness about the harmful effects of drugs.
