Raipur: Chief minister Bhupesh Baghel has called to end the dependence on the use of chemical fertilizers in agriculture and encourage the use of organic manure. He stressed on the use of cluster-based organic farming rather than farming in small patches of land.
On the second day of the collector’s conference, he took the information on the implementation of the schemes of various departments from the secretary-level officers and did the departmental review. He also reviewed the Agriculture Department and its associated Departments, and Rural Industries Department.
During the review of the agriculture and its associated departments, he said that water should not be supplied from dams in summer for paddy crops, so that water remains in dams till July. Encourage farmers to cultivate pulses and oilseeds in the summer season and motivate them to use vermicompost for other crops besides paddy. This will reduce the dependence on chemical fertilizers in agriculture and will encourage the use of organic manure for organic farming practices. He stressed on cluster-based organic farming.
Regarding the construction of Gauthan, he said that Gauthan should be constructed in big dependent villages of Gram Panchayat also. Regarding the Gauthan committees, he said that many farmers have taken loans, but vermicompost is not supplied to them. Officials should ensure that they will get vermicompost as required.
RIPA will act as a multi-activity centre
While reviewing the Panchayat and Rural Development Department, he said that the State Government is constructing a Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) which will act as a multi-activity centre in the state. Small and medium-scale industries will also be operated at the village level through RIPA so that the villagers can have an opportunity to get engaged in livelihood activities. For this, the shed of the Rural Industrial Park (RIPA) should be constructed of a large size so that multi-activities can be conducted there. He said that monitoring of RIPA will be done through the ‘Gauthan Map Portal’ created for Godhan Nyay Yojana. He also said that more attention should be given to the production of paint made from cow dung and this paint should be used for the painting of government buildings. He stressed on promoting the production of cow dung paint so that its demand can be fulfilled.
