Chhattisgarh Budget Session: ₹19,762 Crore Supplementary Budget Presented

Raipur: The Chhattisgarh government has presented a supplementary budget of over ₹19,762 crore for the financial year 2024-25. Finance Minister OP Choudhary introduced the third supplementary budget in the Assembly, focusing on key sectors such as agriculture, welfare schemes, infrastructure, and debt repayment.
Key Allocations:
Agriculture and Electricity Support
- ₹2,200 crore for providing free electricity to farmers’ five-horsepower agricultural pumps.
- ₹2,000 crore for the Krishak Unnati Yojana to support farmers.
- ₹750 crore for electricity subsidies to consumers.
- ₹750 crore for financial assistance to power companies.
Food and Welfare Schemes
- ₹1,864 crore for the Foodgrain Assistance Scheme.
- ₹1,500 crore for the Ayushman Yojana to provide health benefits.
- ₹600 crore each for compensating the Marketing Federation’s losses and foodgrain procurement expenses.
- ₹451 crore for the distribution of gram (pulses).
- ₹154 crore for PDS margin support.
- ₹81 crore for subsidized iodized salt.
- ₹67 crore for sugar subsidies.
- ₹38 crore for jaggery distribution.
Infrastructure and Development
- ₹1,043 crore for Naya Raipur’s development and infrastructure maintenance.
- ₹17.81 crore for e-office implementation.
- ₹4.78 crore for the Sanchar Kranti Yojana.
- ₹55 crore for tuition fee reimbursement in non-government schools.
- ₹5 crore each for salary grants to education workers and preservation of tribal culture.
Debt Repayment and Financial Management
- ₹3,000 crore allocated for loan repayments.
- ₹2,250 crore for repaying loans taken by CGIRIDCL for construction work.
- ₹800+ crore for long-term loans under the Chhattisgarh State Development Loan.
Additional Provisions
- ₹11 crore for the construction of six entry gates in Naya Raipur Atal Nagar.
- ₹5 crore in expected additional expenses for this project.
- ₹6.50 crore for setting up an international air cargo terminal at Raipur Airport to establish a global cargo hub.
This supplementary budget aims to strengthen welfare initiatives, improve infrastructure, support farmers, and manage financial obligations while addressing critical needs across multiple sectors.
