CM Baghel tweets to Rly Ministry expressing concern over cancellation of 10 passenger trains by SECR

 

Urge the Ministry for resumption of the services  for the sake of passengers.

Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Kumar Sahoo has written to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Railway Board, New Delhi.

 

Expressing serious concern over the cancellation of 10 special passenger trains by South East Central Railway (SECR) Bilaspur for one month, Chief Minister tweetedthe Ministry of Railways urging for immediate cognizance and resumption of the services of these trains for the sake of passengers.

Baghel wrote on his Tweeter account, “After selling the railway stations, now 10 passenger trains have been canceled for a month, ignoring the sufferings of the public to earn profit. This is anti-people decision. The Ministry of Railways, Government of India should take immediate cognizance and restore operations of these trains.”

On the instruction of Chief Minister Baghel, Additional Chief Secretary to Chief Minister Subrat Kumar Sahoohas written a letter to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Railway Board New Delhi, demanding to restore the train services, drawing the attention of the Chairman of the Railway Board towards the problems being faced by the citizens of Chhattisgarh due to the closure of the operation of these local trains passing through Chhattisgarh. In the letter, Subrat Sahoo has requested the Railway Board to continue the operation of these local trains.

Sahoo has written that by the order issued by the Principal Chief Operating Manager of SECR Bilaspur on 31 March 2022, in which the operations of 10 local trains have been closed for one month. Out of these, a total of 8 trains travel daily through rail routes in the state of Chhattisgarh. No alternative arrangement has been made before the closure of these trains.

At present, Chaitra Navratri is underway. A large number of devotees from across the country and the state continue to visit the temples and shrines to have darshan of Goddess Durga. Rail route is the easiest and most important way to reach the places of Goddess Darshan. In such a situation, due to the closure of these trains in Chhattisgarh, devotees and common citizens are being deprived of reaching their destination.

There are many middle and lower class passengers in the state, who reach their destination every day while travelling by these local trains. Due to the closure of local trains, people, who are depend on business, employment, government and semi-government services, and students are facing problem. Closure of the operation of these local trains will definitely have an adverse effect on the journeys made during the summer vacations.

The Additional Chief Secretary has requested the Chairman of the Railway Board to cancel the order issued by the Principal Chief Operating Manager of the SECR Bilaspur and direct to restore the operation immediately.
